Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 July 2026

This policy explains how Javier Iglesias García ("I", "me", or "my") handles personal data when you use this website.

Who is responsible for your data?

The data controller is Javier Iglesias García, based in Asturias, Spain.

For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, email contact@gijav.dev.

Data I process

When you browse the website

The website and its infrastructure may process technical information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as your IP address, request time, requested page, browser details, and security logs.

I also use OneDollarStats to understand aggregate website usage. It provides non-identifying statistics such as popular pages, referrers, session length, device type, operating system, browser, and country. It does not provide me with personally identifiable information about casual visitors.

When you sign in with GitHub

GitHub provides the information needed to identify you: your GitHub account ID, verified email address, and, when available, your name and avatar. I store this information together with account creation, update, and last sign-in times.

Sign-in creates an essential session cookie. It is used only to keep you authenticated and provide account features; it is not used for advertising.

When you comment

I process your comment, its publication and edit times, the associated blog post, and your account ID. Your comment and, when available, your name and avatar are public. Your email address is not displayed publicly.

Deleted comments have their content removed, but a limited record may remain to preserve conversation structure, enforce site rules, prevent abuse, and maintain database integrity.

When you use the AI chat

The messages in the current chat are sent to DeepInfra, an AI infrastructure provider in the United States, to generate a response. Chat messages are not saved in this website's database. DeepInfra states that API inputs and outputs are not used for training or sold, but may be retained for a limited period for debugging.

Do not include sensitive personal data or confidential information in chat messages. AI responses are generated automatically and may be incomplete or incorrect.

Why I process data

I process data for these purposes and legal bases:

  • to deliver, secure, and maintain the website, prevent spam and abuse, and understand aggregate usage, based on my legitimate interests in operating a reliable website;
  • to create and maintain your account, authenticate you, and provide commenting features you request, as necessary to provide those services;
  • to publish and manage comments you choose to submit, as necessary to provide the commenting feature and based on my legitimate interests in hosting and moderating discussion;
  • to answer questions submitted through the AI chat, at your request; and
  • to comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims when necessary.

You do not have to provide personal data, but GitHub account data is required to sign in and comment, and chat text is required to use the AI chat.

Service providers and international transfers

I share data only where needed to operate the website:

  • GitHub provides sign-in and supplies the account information described above. GitHub acts under its own privacy statement.
  • Cloudflare hosts the application, database, and related infrastructure and may process technical and account data on my behalf.
  • OneDollarStats provides aggregate website analytics.
  • DeepInfra processes AI chat messages in the United States.

Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, those transfers are protected by an applicable legal transfer mechanism or another safeguard recognised by data protection law. Provider privacy notices explain their own processing and transfer arrangements.

I do not sell your personal data or use it for targeted advertising.

Retention

I keep account and comment data while your account or comments remain active, and afterwards only as long as reasonably needed for security, abuse prevention, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and enforcement of these terms. If you request account deletion, I will delete or anonymise data unless it must be retained for one of those reasons.

Technical logs are retained according to the relevant infrastructure provider's operational and security retention periods. Chat messages are not retained by this website after the response is delivered; DeepInfra may retain API inputs and outputs temporarily for debugging as described above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • access and receive a copy of your personal data;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • request deletion or restriction of processing;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • receive data you provided in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent where processing relies on consent; and
  • complain to a data protection authority.

To exercise a right, email contact@gijav.dev. I may need to verify your identity before completing a request. If you are in Spain, you may also complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency.

Children

This website is not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact me so I can review and remove it where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy when the website, its providers, or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
